MYVA ARFF/SRE BUILDING
The new Martha’s Vineyard Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting/Snow Removal Equipment Building replaced an existing 40-year-old structure with a new 19,000 square-foot building.
The F.A.A. funded facility contains offices for Airport management, air traffic controllers, rescue personnel training and support areas, including showers, bunk rooms, and dining. There are 12 Apparatus Bays containing Rescue Fire Fighting Equipment and Snow Removal vehicles.
The apparatus area and the two-story administration area were both constructed using a pre-engineered steel structure, with concrete floors and metal stud interior and exterior wall finishing.
The exterior is finished in traditional wood shingles and composite board trim. All roofs are standing seam fluorocarbon coated aluminum panels.
All doors, windows, and apparatus equipment doors are impact resistant to withstand 120 mile per hour winds and debris.
The building is super-insulated and heated and cooled using a VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system, one of the most energy efficient HVAC systems available.
